East Grove's Local Area

The surrounding countryside in this area is nothing short of breathtaking. With the Elan Valley just up the road, Rhayader is blessed with some of the UK's finest scenery.

The Valley dams complex stretches for mile after mile of outstanding natural beauty. You will see wildlife in its natural habitat, including the Red Kite.

The dams were originally built to provide water for Birmingham during its rapid growth during the industrial revolution, when pure water was fast becoming a scarce commodity. But Wales, with its plentiful rainfall and many mountains and valleys provided the ideal solution to the crisis.

Also, the Red Kite Feeding Station at Gigrin Farm is just a short walk from our front door. Kites are fed daily at 3pm but you will see Buzzards and Kites circling overhead all day long...
